Flying Stag legend
The Flying Stag comes from a myth of an ancient germanic tribe. Famine and fires set by warring tribes had plaqued the tribe. One night a white stag with wings appeared on the ridge over their valley. They followed the white stag for a season as it flew from ridge to ridge toward refuge in a peaceful valley filled with tall grasses. The white stag with wings became the crest of many early germanic family and is considered one of the precursors to the pegasus icon.
